ספר במדבר - Sefer Bamidbar
Parshat Bamidbar
Rav Druck - Must make yourself like a desert to learn torah
Parshat Bamidbar
Rav Druck – wisdom is given to those who already have Wisdom. Making an effort for a mitzvah is a mitzvah.
Parshat Bamidbar
Thoughts from Gemora, and Rashi - sharing someone else's pain. Only once you have done everything possible will you receive devine assistance
Parshat Behalotchah
Aaron and his emunah and his sufferings - the cloud and emunah of the Jewish people - you must push through
Parshat Behalotchah
Pesach sheni and korban - Having a second chance but as a commandment (must give people a second chance)
Parshat Behalotchah
Maan, Jews complaining. Being grateful for what we have and the blessings G-d has given us.
Parshat Behalotchah
Miriam's lashon hara on Moshe - Jخshua gets angry at the people who want to be prophets. Jealousy diminishes you.
Parshat Shlach
The spies - Lashon Hara - Speaking negatively about Israel. We must give respect to Israel. Not to diminish the blessings that Hashem gives us.
Parshat Shlach
The spies - Why didn't Hashem stop Moshe sending the spies. Over eagerness of the spies failed them. Don't be impulsive. Think.
Parshat Shlach
The spies: the phrase "we were as grasshoppers". The way people view you is how you view yourself. Also being humble is a positivity shows self confidence
Parshat Shlach
Spies and emuna - Embrace emuna where there is doubt. Spies didn't have emuna
Parshat Shlach
The spies. They gave a positive report and then said "But.." That word was enough to change destiny. The Power of just One Word is enormous.
Parshat Korach
We are all holy. Korach wasn't minding his own business, he was just watching Mosheh. Don't be concerned with what someone else is doing
Parshat Korach
He was a prophet. But he had self-interest, ego. You should have a good heart then you see everything good. Korach's heart only saw self-interest
Parshat Chukat
Miriam dies flow of the water stops. People rebelled. Mosheh asks Hashem to give water. Jews were complaining. People suffer, then daven to Hashem. Opportunity to pray, you must pray for everything. We are like the rock that had water, and Mosheh spoke with the rock and water flew. We can also flow with prayer.
Parshat Chukat
Rav Druck. Jews encountered Og and Amalek. Why did Mosheh fear Og. His merit was that he told Avraham that Lot was captured. We are talking about a Mitzvah and reward. Kavanah is important, not the act of the Mitzvah, but your intentions for doing the mitzvah, and that will be the reward. Act with intention, make decisions like they impact the world. Thoughts behind an action are important.
Parshat Balak
Bilham asks if he should go and is told to go but not to bless or curse. Do not give reason to Hashem to open his wrath. Do not get angry.
Parshat Balak
Donkey story. Life is like this the Donkey: you veer to right and left and get hurt, then our eyes is opened and we see why we encountered the hardships. Everything happens for a reason, all guided by G-d.
Parshat Balak
Bilham talks to Hashem? Why? Bilham was a prophet of non-Jews. Hashem likes and cares for non-Jews. We are the leads and as leaders we must love everyone, and lead by example.
Parshat Balak
Rav Druck says Bilham is a bad guy. I don't see him as bad, because he listened to everything G-d told him. Rav Druck says one of the traits of good Jews, is to have a good eye, meaning to judge favourably. This is a rule of life. Judge favourably everyone even non-Jews.
Parshat Balak
Balak takes Bilham to different points to look at the Jews. Curses didn't happen. 1. If Hashem doesn't want something it won't happen. 2.If your intentions are not pure it's not going to work out. 3. Unless you are set up and prepared well it won't happen.
Parshat Balak
Who has counted the dust of Yaakov. We should conceal and being modest with your mitzvot. Meaning, how are you doing the mitzvah, do not do it for your honor. What is the intention of doing the mitzvah.
Parshat Balak
end of the Parsha the men are mixing with Moabite women. Pinchas stops the plague, he was a Zealot (he was fanatical). Is it good to be a zealot? Zealocy is ok if your intentions are holy. It's all about intentions.
Parshat Pinchas
Pinhas kills the couple. The actions of Pinchas: perform good deeds with sincerety. Being a defender of Hashem's ways. Pinchas acted on this. Acting for Hashem without shame.
Parshat Pinchas
Pinchas took vengeance for his G-d. He acted with Kiddush Hashem. He killed another Jew to save all the Jews. It was done for the greater good. When you sanctify Hashem it is kiddush Hashem you ae spreading Hashem's light.
Parshat Pinchas
Mosheh is told to hand down leadership to Joshua.Relationships do this to, older person hands down "the rule" to younger people. We observe and must pass through positivity and goodness.
Parshat Mattot and Massei
Neders/vows. But continuing with Kadish. In this world, we do actions, and they cause ripples. A mitzvah causes ripples. Actions cause ripples throughout the world. Think about the positive ripples you leave when you pass away. This way a person can live forever. Connecting this to the Torah: Mosheh created a never ending ripple. He lives forever.
Parshat Mattot and Massei
Also perek Alef of pirkei Avot - Connecting them together. "A lover of silver shall not be associated with silver". Meaning our need to learn Torah leads to learning more. The more you study the more you want to study. The more you learn the more you are lacking.
Parshat Massei
Hashem causes something to happen so you take action. Like something happens so the Jews go on a journey. Parshat is all about journeys.
